CandleLab (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our mobile application.

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Calculation data: Candle formulas, recipe names, and ingredient quantities you save in the app.
  • Inventory data: Information about your supplies (wax, fragrances, wicks, etc.) and their costs.
  • User preferences: App settings (language, default wax type, units).

Storage: All this data is stored locally on your device using Room Database. It is not sent to our servers.

Firebase Analytics

We collect anonymous usage data to improve the application:

  • Usage events (e.g., “calculator_used”, “calculation_saved”).
  • Device information (model, Android version, language).
  • Performance data (load time, crashes).

Google AdMob (Free Users Only)

We show ads to users of the free version:

  • Personalized ads: AdMob may collect advertising identifiers (AAID) to show relevant ads.
  • Data collected by AdMob: Ad interactions, approximate location, device identifier.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected to:

  • Provide the service: Save your calculations and preferences locally.
  • Improve the app: Analyze usage patterns to add useful features.
  • Fix bugs: Identify and solve crashes.
  • Show ads: Only in the Free version, to sustain app development.
  • Process payments: Google Play Billing handles subscriptions (we do not store payment data).

3. Information Sharing

We DO NOT sell or share your personal data with third parties, except for:

  • Google Firebase: For analytics and crash reporting (anonymous data).
  • Google AdMob: To show ads (Free users only).
  • Google Play Billing: To process subscriptions.
  • Legal compliance: If required by law to disclose information.

4. Your Rights (GDPR and CCPA)

You have the right to:

  • Access your data: All your data is on your device; you can export it to CSV (Pro users).
  • Delete your data: Uninstalling the app deletes all local data.
  • Portability: Export your calculations in CSV format.
  • Opt-out: Disable personalized ads in Android settings.
  • Revoke consent: Stop using the app at any time.

How to Exercise Your Rights

  • Delete data: Android Settings → Apps → CandleLab → Clear data.
  • Export data: Use “Export to CSV” function (Pro users).

5. Data Security

We implement security measures to protect your information:

  • Encrypted local storage: Room Database with SQLCipher encryption (upcoming).
  • Secure communications: All connections to Firebase use HTTPS/TLS.
  • No cloud storage: Your calculations never leave your device (unless you use export).

6. Data Retention

  • Local data: Maintained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
  • Analytics: Google Firebase retains anonymous data for 14 months.
  • Crashlytics: Crash reports are retained for 90 days.

7. Children’s Privacy

CandleLab is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you discover that a child has provided information, contact us to remove it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. We will notify you of significant changes via:

  • Updating the “Last updated” date above.
  • In-app notification (for major changes).

9. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed on Google servers located outside your country. Google complies with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and other data transfer frameworks.

10. Cookies and Similar Technologies

CandleLab does not use cookies. However, Google AdMob and Firebase may use similar technologies to:

  • Remember ad preferences.
  • Analyze app usage.
